Fundraising & Support

The Newro Foundation is a not for profit organisation that receives no government funding and is reliant on the generosity of the community. While research does not come cheap, it is vital and with your support we can continue finding ways to improve patients' prognosis, and facilitate their return to a normal life.

Your donations are funding a Neuro-Oncology Nurse Practitioner.

The Neuro-Oncology Nurse Practitioner is responsible for supervising and coordinating patient care during all of the various stages of diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. The Department of Health and Ageing have accredited experienced Oncology Registered Nurses with a Masters Degree in Nursing to collaborate with Medical Specialists to treat tumour patients.

Newro Foundation has supported Vivien Biggs through her Masters degree in the role as an accredited Neuro-Oncology Nurse Practitioner. There has been a long realised need for individual and co-ordinated nursing care for tumour patients and the the role has developed over the past three years. The recognition of this role by the medical authorities has justified our present and past commitment to co-ordinated care for patients and their families.

Vivien brings her extensive tumour oncology experience to the practice to meet our ‘best of care’ standards. This role will add to our clinical support during the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation stages of treatment.
